RESUME

Artist Statement:

It all started in the Spring of 2001.   While shopping for house wares,  I was casually asked to peak into a room that was displaying a travelling exhibit of award winning quilts.   I stood transfixed at the beauty of these quilted works of Art!  There was no looking back.

I love the tactile quality of fabric as my medium of art.  Making quilts & quilting allows me to express my creativity to the fullest.   I am highly influenced by the simple geometric shapes, clean lines and the graphic depiction of color in Folk Art and Mid Century Modern Art.  I am constantly learning and evolving as an Artist.

As a Professional Quilt Artist, I offer Quilting for Hire Services and I am also Commissioned by people to make quilts from start to finish to commemorate events, milestones & to enhance interiors of Corporate & Residential spaces.

I believe that the magic of Art lies in our hearts! This magic has to be shared! I intend for my quilts to be seen & enjoyed.  I love to share my art and my techniques with others so that they can pursue the pleasures of this art form and someday pass it down to younger generations to come.

Community projects:

Year of 2014: Charity/Philanthropy Chair Person - Central Jersey Modern Quilt Guild - Charity Beneficiary, The Center for Great Expectations, Somerset, New Jersey.   - A Safe Heaven for homeless, pregnant or parenting, adult women and adolescents.
As the Philathropy/Chair Person for the year, I took a leadership role to plan & execute the charity initiative of the Guild for 2014.  I organised a fabric donation drive from members and local fabric distributors. Organised a group of members for cutting fabric into pre cut quilt kits for easy assembly of quilt tops.  Scheduled a day long sewing session at the Hopewell Train Station, NJ.  All the members sewed the precut quilt kits into quilt tops.  In the remaining months of the year quilt tops were given to volunteer members to take home for quilting & binding.  All quilts were pooled together for affixing labels.  The goal was to make 10 to 12 crib size quilts.  As a result of good planning, execution and the motivated members we not only met but surpassed our goal with a total of 32 crib size finished quilts.  21 of those quilts were donated to  in Nov 2014 to the Center. In time for the mothers to receive them by Thanksgiving.  The remaining quilts went into the Charity Quilt Chest of the Guild for the 2015 charity program.
